That equates to twice as much food and twice as much opportunity to extend a helping hand. Your 2nd mile mission gifts helped them connect nearly 8000 with jobs, give away over $500,000 pounds of food, spend $84,000 keeping the lights on and people in their homes. Over 1,000 children received gifts through their Christmas program that might not have had a joyful Christmas morning. NEWS FROM LEE AND KAREN WOOD (For the past 15 years Lee and Karen have been working with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea, where he is an aircraft mechanic and she is a nurse in the clinic.) Our assignment in the Recruitment Ministries of Wycliffe Bible Translators has kept us very busy these past months. This commitment ends in May and then we will be concentrating on developing prayer and financial partnerships for our return to Papua New Guinea next January. We also look forward to connecting with many of you in person or on the phone to hear about our lives. Fifteen years! It doesn’t seem that long until we look at how our children have grown and we have aged. During those years, New Testaments in 102 different languages were completed and put in the hands of people and villages throughout Papua New Guinea. Many, many churches have sprung up and God’s Word is a shining light where only darkness reigned before. Sarah, our oldest child, graduated in December from the University of Texas with a degree in Anthropology and is working at the Child and Adolescent Policy Research Institute. Jessica is in Orlando and loves her job as a veterinary technician. Andrew is studying to become an aircraft mechanic and adjusting to living in the States. We are grateful for your prayers for them. Thank you for partnering with us in this ministry. Only God knows what the next 15 years hold, but if it’s anything like the last, it won’t be boring! Love, Lee, Karen and family GREETINGS FROM PAPUA NEW GUINEA! This has been an interesting month for the people of Ukarumpa. The center has 2 ways of getting water. There is a Papua New Guinean man who claims to own the land where the pump is that pumps 1 form of water through the center. He is taking SIL to court but disconnected the pipes anyway. After a week, he allowed the water to be reconnected and said he would wait for the court's decision. Please pray for the outcome of the court case and for the man's heart to be open to Christ. There are 3 bridges on the one road out of the valley to the nearest city. The middle bridge has been damaged by recent flash floods. (We received over 20 inches of rain in 5 weeks.) Small vehicles are still able to drive on it. However, no supply or fuel trucks are. Supplies are coming in smaller trucks but fuel is limited. This includes diesel to run the generators. Please pray the bridge to be repaired quickly and no more damage is done. Work Permits and Visas required by the PNG government expire every 3 years. This occurred in January. The work permits have just been processed and accepted. Please pray the Visas are processed in a timely manner. Several families were hoping to go on furlough in April and May, and they cannot leave the country until this is done. I praise God for all the things He has taught me and shown me the last 6 months. I know He will show Himself faithful the next 6 months as well. Thank you for praying and supporting me!
